Crystallographer. Educated at Owens College in Manchester, Royal College of Science, South Kensington and graduated at Oxford. B. Sc. 1898. D. Sc. 1903. He was a demonstrtor of Chemistry for a time in the Royal College of Science and was then appointed H. M. Inspector of Schools (Technological Branch) Board of Education, Whitehall 1895-1924. President of the Mineralogical Society 1912-1915. F. R. S. 1899.
