Sir Francis Ronalds papers.
Diaries kept by Ronalds during journeys to Europe and the Middle East while a young man, drafts of articles relating to his inventions, several hundred letters sent to him while superintendent at Kew, and an album of letters and press cuttings dating mainly from 1852 to 1871 regarding his telegraph. The papers include many of his pen and ink drawings.
Electrical engineer, known for his electrostatic telegraph based on synchronously revolving discs. Honorary director and superintendent of the Meteorological Observatory at Kew, England (1840s), and a founder of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, England.
