Biography

Abstract

Jerome Wiesner was President of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (1971-1980). Other institutional affiliations include the President's Science Advisory Committee (PSAC) and Los Alamos Laboratory (Manhattan Project). As a scientist and teacher, his research interests include microwave theory, communications science and engineering, signal processing, radio, and radar. As Science Adviser to President Kennedy, Wiesner worked on a treaty to ban underground nuclear testing by the United States, Soviet Union, and United Kingdom.
