Professor of Mathematics and Astronomy at Columbia College, 1825-1843, Trustee of Columbia, 1851-1875, and Professor Emeritus, 1866-1875. He received a Columbia A.B. in 1818, A.M. in 1821, M.D. in 1824, and LL.D. in 1850; and was the son-in-law of Lorenzo Da Ponte.
