Stanford University School of Earth Sciences records, 1893-2005.
This collection includes minutes, by laws, correspondence, reports, memoranda, notices, meeting records, photographs, CDs, DVDs, audio cassettes, and miscellaneous records of the School of Earth Sciences and of the Associates of the School of Earth Sciences. Of note are a portfolio on the School with photographs and architectural drawings, 1947; portraits and photographs of faculty, students, and of Ruth Wattis Mitchell, a benefactor of the School; records pertaining to the organization of the School of Mineral Sciences, 1940, and the Report on the School of Mineral Sciences by the Visiting Committee of the Associates of the School of Mineral Sciences, June 14, 1957.
The Stanford University School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences was organized as the School of Mineral Sciences in 1947, and includes departments which have been part of Stanford University since its inception in 1891. Over time it has undergone several name changes.
