PhD in astronomy from University of Michigan (1954), Carnegie postdoctoral fellow at Mount Wilson Observatory, and also worked at Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Northwestern University, Mount Stromlo Observatory, and University of Texas at Austin.
