American Physical Society. Division of High Polymer Physics
American Physical Society Division of High Polymer Physics records, 1943-1944.
Correspondence; minutes; abstracts; petitions. The records (1943-1944) are primarily composed of correspondence concerning the foundation of the division, including the need for such a division, and whether it should remain part of the American Physical Society. The correspondence also includes discussion of bylaws, early meetings of the division, and possible publication of papers in high-polymer physics. Also included are a petition for the foundation of the division, drafts of bylaws, and abstracts of papers delivered at the inaugural meeting.
The Division of High-Polymer Physics of the American Physical Society (APS) was established in 1944 after an initial petition to the APS Council in 1943. The objective of the division is the advancement of both pure and applied physical research on high polymeric materials such as rubbers, textiles, and plastics.
