Radio Research Laboratory records, 1942-1946.
These records document research projects, including the development of countermeasure prototypes; operations research, including the development of probability models; establishment of production guidelines and contracts; as well as the administrtion of the Laboratory itself. Included are the records of the RRL director Frederick E. Terman and records relating to the American British Laboratory, an affiliate of RRL. Topics include radar, radar countermeasures, microwaves, research methodology, and the relationship of federally-sponsored research to the industrial sector. Types of records include correspondence, memoranda, administrative and technical reports, minutes, personnel records, invention disclosure card file, newspaper clippings, newsletters and other publications, scrapbooks, photographs.
The Radio Research Laboratory (RRL) was a U. S. Office of Scientific Research and Development funded facility charged with the development of anti-radar capability. This research was simultaneously under development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). First located at MIT, the RRL soon moved to Harvard where it was operated by the University during World War II.
