Manley assisted J. Robert Oppenheimer in establishing the Los Alamos laboratory, 1943; leader of experimental physics group, 1943-1946; Technical Associate Director, 1947-1951; Secretary General Advisory Committee (AEC); Chairman Dept. of Physics, University of Washington, 1951-1957; staff member Los Alamos National Laboratory, retired in 1983. Died 1990.
