Nolte, Henry J.
Henry J. Nolte papers, 1915-1960.
Papers, 1915-1916, contain student and professional papers documenting Nolte's education at RPI, and aspects of his work at the General Electric Co. on vacuum tube development, and ceramic and glass-to-metal seals. The student papers, 1917, are arranged alphabetically by subject. They contain notes, exercises in calculus, german, electricity, and physics. The professional papers, 1915-1960, contain a set of laboratory notebooks, project files, materials regarding patents, and a collection of symposia proceedings and reports. The lab notebooks, 1915-1940, arranged chronologically provide notes on experiments, data, and figures. The project files, 1919-1957, arranged alphabetically, represent only a small portion of Nolte's work. Files contain a variety of internal and published reports, notes, correspondence, curves, figures, plans, data, financial information, etc. documenting Nolte's development of a high power pliotron and a metal vacuum tube, his studies of the properties of glass, ceramics and metals, ceramic and glass metal seals, and development of a dry hydrogen brazing furnace. The patents file includes correspondence regarding Nolte's work on metal-to-ceramic seals, evacuation by internal getter, and a bracket for attaching a can to a ladder. The reports, primarily GE Co. Research Laboratory reports, include papers on German vacuum tube techniques (1945), ceramic to metal seals, etc.
