East Tennessee State University. Department of Physics and Astronomy
East Tennessee State University department of physics and astronomy history, October 2008.
A brief summary of the evolution of the East Tennessee State University's physics program, from its founding in 1959 to modern developments in 2008.
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) was founded in 1959. The program offers curricula leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. The faculty consists of eight members with Ph.D. degrees in their respective field of study and one member with an M.S. degree. Modern laboratories along with relatively small class sizes in the upper-level courses result in a strong academic department with substantial personal interaction between faculty members and students. Facilities include ETSU campus observatory or the observatory on Kitt Peak in Arizona.
