History of physics collections destroyed in World War II.
Manuscript collections held at this repository that were destroyed in World War II include: a manuscript on ebb and flow by Heinrich Rudolf Hertz (1857-1894); papers of Heinrich Kayser (1853-1940); papers of astronomer Wilhelm Foerster (1832-1921), including 53 letters from Friedrich Wilhelm August Argelander, from 1855 to 1874, and 19 letters and a postcard from Johannes von Hanstein, from 1860 to 1877.
