Includes materials mostly relating to Gould's work at the National Observatory, Cr̤doba, Argentina, such as: original and xerox copy of the Annual Report of the Argentine Meteorological Office for the year of 1874 (Buenos Aires, 1875); Gould's reports to the Observatorio Astronomica y Oficina Meteorologica de la Republica Argentina (Astronomic Observatory and Meteorological Office of the Argentine Republic), 1874; as well as copies of correspondence from Gould to Wood, May 1875-Aug. 1881 and of letters from M. Thome to T. B. Wood, Aug.-Sept. 1876; copy of original printed pamphlet entitled "Sobre el Cometa de Mayo Y Junio de 1881 y su observacion, Hecha el 11 de Junio"; a 32-page bulletin issued in Boston in 1874 on the occasion of the "Reception of Dr. Benjamin A. Gould by his Fellow-Citizens of Boston and vicinity, June 22, 1874." It lists distinguished participants and ends with an address by Gould in which he describes the establishment and operation of the observatory at Cr̤doba. Also photographs of the moon made with 12-inch refractor of the Whitin Observatory, Oct.-Nov. 1918.

Founder and first editor, Astronomical Journal (1849); director, Dudley Observatory (1855-1859); commissioned the establishment of the National Observatory at Cordoba, Argentina (1870); reestablished the Astronomical Journal (1896).
