Biographical Note
Earnest C. Watson (1892-1970) was Professor of Physics at California Institute of Technology from 1919-1962. Also at Cal Tech, he served as Chairman of the Division of Physics, Math, and Astronomy (1946-1949) and Dean of Faculty (1945-1960).
Scope and Contents of Collection
This collection contains Earnest Watson's corrected copy of the textbook "Mechanics, Molecular Physics, Heat, and Sound" (1937), which he co-authored with Robert Andrews Millikan and Duane Roller. There are handwritten notes on the pages, as well as notes on other sheets of paper inserted into the book. The inserts have been removed from the book and placed in folders based on where they were in the book.
